As expected, the new annual Consumer Reports issue will be available next April. This information is based on random surveys done to subscribers and customers as well as multiple road tests scores collected by trained staff.
First position goes to Honda, followed by Subaru on the second spot. Toyota has made it to third place (excellent position taking into consideration this brand has made several recalls), Volvo takes the fourth spot and in terms of position gain, Ford has made the biggest one, jumping to number 5. Following Ford is Hyundai, on the sixth place.
Ford is currently getting 71% of its vehicles recommended. GM, despite all efforts made by launching high technology cars and unveiling many redesigns this year, ends up with just 46% of its models recommended. Chrysler managed to get only one vehicle recommended: the Dodge Ram 1500.
Honda and Subaru maintain a great record of reliability, resulting in all models recommended.
Kia Sorento SUV and Hyundai Elantra are both featured on top picks (Hyundai was already in that category). BMW and Mercedes Benz are left behind, both automakers are listed on the bottom places, consumers report issues with the SUVs. Volkswagen new Jetta model has been strongly criticized by having poor fuel economy.
These ratings are not based on best car prices on the market, rather by reliability, comfort and economy in gas prices, meaning these models might not be the cheapest ones to buy.
