Long time rivals, Ford Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corp. are once again fighting neck to neck with hybrid models.

Ford is focusing in polishing every little detail and raising the bar as high as possible with the new Ford Fusion that will go on sale this year.

The manufacturer is working on a vehicle that will deliver 47 miles per gallon in the city and 44 miles per gallon on the highway. Last year’s model achieved 43 and 39, respectively.

Ford is projecting that by the year 2020, hybrid and electric vehicles sales rise to a 10-25% of all car sales. This, will have a big and beneficial impact on the environment and fuel economy all over the globe.
