Dodge showed off its newly redesigned Charger at the auto show in New York. Some of you might ask why the need to redesign? The Charger enjoyed a strong sales year last year, up 19% to almost 100,000 cars sold. Those numbers place the Dodge Charger near the top of the list for best-selling full-size cars. So why change again? Dodge has not had a strong start this year, down 4.4% over last year’s totals so far. And with the loss of full-size car market share to the smaller and more efficient mid-size class, the Charger has to stand out in the crowd.

The modifications that stand out the most on the Charger is the body. Dodge said they have modified nearly all of the body panels, giving it a sleeker, more contemporary look. They kept the V-6 and V-8 engines to attract those buyers who like a little muscle with their cars. But with an 8 speed automatic transmission that comes standard on all Chargers, the fuel economy is slightly improved. The interior also improved, with a 7 inch digital screen in the instrument panel and a 5 or 8.4 inch touchscreen infotainment system.
